Our Story

Kea Play was founded in 2021 on a rainy day in the Coromandel. Paul’s daughters wanted a stables for their toy horses, so with his dad-ingenuity he created the first Kea Play prototype out of cardboard and what’s known today as our best-selling Horse Stables!

Paul promised to make his daughters an improved wooden version of their stables so they could have hours of fun with their horses. After catching up with his friend Steve and sharing his promise, Steve, with his creativity and can-do attitude, said, “I can make that!” And so, Kea Play’s first wooden toy was made.

The wooden stables was such a success that people were asking, “Where can I get one for my kids?”, “Do you sell these?”. This sparked the idea to provide sustainable wooden toys for kids all over Aotearoa.

The range quickly expanded, after several requests like “Daddy, can I please have some jumps for my horses?”, “Daddy, can you please design a kennel for my dog?”, after all who could say no to “Daddy, can I please have…”.

We hope you enjoy Kea Play as much as we have enjoyed creating it, and Paul’s daughters have enjoyed playing with it. We can’t wait to hear about all the adventures your kids dream up with Kea Play.
